  • Designers and manufacturers of aquaculture equipment are not sufficiently aware and motivated to seek alternative materials that would make their products more resistant and less polluting.

  • Designers are not sufficiently encouraged by manufacturers to be innovative and to seek alternatives to existing aquaculture gear and installation systems.

  • Lack of political will or administrative resources to adapt national law according the existing EU directives.
